Subject Matter Expert: Trauma of Persecuted Populations
Dr. Mandal is a Licensed Psychotherapist and National Board Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist in New York City. She specializes in global mental health, complex trauma, and runs a diverse therapy practice focused on the therapeutic treatment of BIPOC communities and their allies. She is certified in a range of treatment modalities and clinical issues, including hypnotherapy and EMDR therapy. Mandal is also a forensic expert witness for the New York State and federal court system, where she has worked with thousands of people in the legal system, in criminal court, immigration court, and family court. She has years of training as a sentence mitigation specialist in federal and state criminal courts, and is a qualified expert witness in trauma in immigration court.
Dr. Mandal spent 25 years specializing and training in historical, cross-cultural, and intergenerational trauma and torture, impacting the global mental health of communities around the world. She is a graduate of Smith College School of Social Work (1999), Rutgers Law School (2003), and Harvard Medical School/ Harvard Program in Refugee Trauma (2015). Ms. Mandal is also a member of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies and the American Bar Association, Dispute Resolution. Ms. Mandal is a trained mediator. In addition, she is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the City University of New York, where she teaches undergraduate and graduate students. She also teaches at New York University.
